I am Julie Dean Hughes // SKI GIRL DESIGN, a New York native who has found the west. I have been a graphic designer, art director and ski instructor since the late 1990s. My experience started in NYC after attending Syracuse University for Communication Design. I have worked at Seventeen Magazine, redesigned Barbie packaging, entered into the world of Pharmaceutical Design and eventually packed my bags to be a ski bum in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
After teaching skiing full-time for a few years (never giving up on design), I went back to full-time design as a Senior Art Director at Circumerro Media in Jackson Hole — designing magazines, guide books, web sites, branding, advertising and anything you could imagine for almost 5 years. After a few moves, and 2 kids later, I currently am a freelance designer based in my home office in Durango, Colorado. On the fun side, I spend my free time enjoying mountain biking, downhill skiing, fly fishing, paddle boarding, playing with my kids, camping and just being outside. I also teach skiing part-time all winter, specializing in intermediated to advanced women skiers, and mountain bike coach in the spring and fall. If you are looking for paintings, notecards, design services (or ski or bike lessons!), my clients are all over the USA. I am happy to give you a quote. EDUCATION
